Leg Strength Related to Successful Aging

According to researchers at Stanford University, the single best predictor of the need to go into a nursing home is the strength of your legs.

The stronger your legs, the lower your risk of falling, which may lead to serious injury, such as a broken hip and the need to go to a nursing home.  In addition to leg strength, balance is critical.

Both of these can be maintained through exercise and balance exercises such as TaiChi or Pilates.
