Healthy Aging and Homecare for Seniors in Orange County

June 7, 2016

Aging issues can complicate a senior’s abilities to maintain a healthy diet, lifestyle and homecare. There are problems that the elderly deal with trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle from an inability to chew and swallow, to budgetary constraints and even difficulty getting to a grocery store. Seniors can often feel isolated which can lead to not eating healthily. They may not be able to prepare adequate meals or even eat on a regular basis. There are several ways to help seniors with their specific needs.

Meals on Wheels is a good option to deliver hot meals on a weekly basis. You can also prepare meals for the freezer like soups and stews that are easy to chew and digest. Seniors may need transportation to a grocery store to help them buy healthy foods like low sodium canned vegetables or fruits without syrup. Help them shop for snacks and vegetables to cut-up like carrots, broccoli or cauliflower. Nuts are another choice as long as the senior can chew them. Nutritional replacement drinks are an alternative choice if supplements are needed. Lastly, another option is to hire a caregiver to make sure they are eating regularly with healthy meals. They can assure that seniors enjoy a safe and nourishing diet as they age especially if they have Alzheimer’s ,Parkinson’s, or some other health issues.
