A New Blood Test For Alzheimer’s

November 23, 2015

Scientists are working on a new test for detecting Alzheimer’s Disease. The blood test could lead to early diagnosis and treatment for patients. By studying the blood, the researchers have found reliable biomarkers in the bloodstream from the release of damaged brain cells. This allows for a quick diagnosis of a range of neurodegenerative diseases. This test would allow doctors a way to intervene at an earlier stage for those with Alzheimer’s. By detecting the disease early, patients could make lifestyle changes to prevent or slow the progression of the disease until a cure is discovered. Early disease detection is beneficial because many of the same conditions that lead to vascular disease are also significant risk factors for Alzheimer’s.
