The Caring Corner – The Alzheimer’s Diet
We’ve had a lot of interest among our readers in The Alzheimer’s Diet book and, in general, using nutrition to improve our health and reduce the likelihood of Alzheimer’s and other age-related afflictions. This recent book, written by Harvard-trained Neurologist, Richard S. Isaacson, has been a best-seller and will hopefully generate greater understanding of the role of good nutrition in our lives.
If you don’t have time to read the book or just want to get quick guidelines you can apply immediately in your daily diet, see the following website is a valuable resource: The Alzheimer’s Diet Blog. In particular, I like their fun-to-read graphics that eliminate any boredom one might experience with more traditional tomes.
My mother suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. My experience caring for her prompted me to become a Qualified Dementia Care Specialist certified by the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. The more I follow Alzheimer’s, the more concerned I become about the future health of so many people who seem unaware of the health impacts of their diet, the reduced quality of life they will have and the cost to our society of caring for them.
