Five Signs of Caregiver Stress for People in Chapel Hill
Some say that there are two people who need care: the person who needs care and the caregiver herself. Here are some signs that you may be stressed as a caregiver.
- Inability to concentrate: you always dwell on your loved one and all that you need to do for them. You have a hard time concentrating at work or home.
- Depression: you feel sad, weepy, and hopeless. The challenges of being a caregiver are overwhelming.
- Anxiety: You are anxious about getting things done. You feel like you do not have time to take care of all the chores that caring for your loved one entails.
- Anger: You find yourself yelling at your loved one often. You have a hard time controlling your temper. Caregivers may get mad with their loved one because they give up a lot in their own lives to care for them. It’s common to feel angry at family members for not helping.
- Withdrawal: This may occur if you are suffering from depression. You may choose to avoid friends and family. You stop engaging part in favorite activities.
