Awards and Recognitions

Acorn has received numerous awards and recognitions that set us apart from anyone else in the market.

Dementia Care Professional of the Year

In 2014, Acorn founder Lorenzo Mejia was named the Dementia Care Professional of the Year by the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA).  That year, only two people in the United States were so recognized.  The other recipient was the Assistant Director of Geriatrics at Santa Clara Medical Center in California.   Read more.

Orange County Quality Service Award

We are proud of the fact that Acorn received the first-ever Quality Service Award from the Board of Commissioners of Orange County. The award was granted based on our service to clients.  Read more.

Orange County Caregiver of the Year Award

While this award did not go Acorn per se, we are proud that one of our favorite people, caregiver Cassandra Graham, was named the Caregiver of the Year by Orange County in 2015.

Qualified Dementia Care Professionals

Both Acorn founders are Qualified Dementia Care Professionals.  This is the highest certification given by the Dementia Care Professionals of America.
