The Caring Corner®

Caregivers for Young Woman

April 14, 2016

Acorn is a caregiver registry based in Carrboro.  We match caregivers with people needing care.  Some are young, some are old.  We have won many awards and our clients love us.  See some testimonials here.

Screen Shot 2016-04-05 at 7.38.38 AMThis client is a UNC grad in her 30s who was born a quadriplegic.  She is a professional and lives a normal life. She is wheelchair-bound, however, so needs help every morning and evening.  She lives two miles from campus.  This photo is representative of her, but is not her.

In the morning, you would help her get out of bed, bathe, get dressed, etc.  During the week, the morning schedule is roughly 6 to 8AM.  On weekends, it’s later, starting perhaps at 8 or 9AM.

In the evening, you would help her get cleaned up and transfer her to bed for the night.  Evening visits last about one hour and start around 8 or 9PM.

We seek caregivers who are interested in many, or just a few, shifts per week.   Ideally, you are a compassionate, intelligent person with prior care experience.  A CNA is nice to have, but not necessary.

If interested, please fill out an application here.  We’ll call you for an interview, do background checks, etc.  If you have questions, please call Acorn owner, Lorenzo Mejia, 919-259-6189, between the hours of 10AM and 6PM, Monday through Friday.
