The Caring Corner®
Campaign for Dementia Friendly Restaurants
There is a nascent movement in Britain for restaurants to have a logo indicting that they are “Dementia Aware.” With their population growing older, the idea is for education of staff so they are more receptive and, perhaps, a bit kindler and gentler, toward customers experiencing memory loss and confusion.
Not a bad idea. As the son of someone who suffered from dementia for many years, I can say that there is definitely a right way and a wrong way to communicate with someone who suffers from this disease. Making everyone more understanding of the needs of the elder population can only be a plus. See more at this link.
