Back to School

September 14, 2015
Last month, 600 teachers from the Chapel Hill-Carrboro school district stocked up on nearly $50,000 worth construction paper, markers, hand wipes, and all sorts of classroom supplies, courtesy of the East Chapel Hill Rotary Club (ECHRC) in partnership with the Public School Foundation (PSF).
Given the reputation of our local schools, it surprises many that teachers have to purchase these items using personal funds.    Years ago the ECHRC teamed up with the PSF for an event that has become more successful each year.  This year marked the ninth year of the store, with additional support coming from Staples and other community organizations.

The East Chapel Hill Rotary Club is a service organization with more than 130 members. The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Public School Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to mobilizing community support for the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools.  Learn more about either of these organizations here:  East Chapel Hill Rotary and Chapel Hill-Carrboro Public School Foundation
